“”The year is 2026…..My sweaty hands clinging on the steering wheel for dear life; wind in my hair; I hear the beautiful sound of a 220KW turbocharged four-cylinder…. Yes, the adrenalin and pure excitement fills the air…..
BAM! It hits me….wind in, what hair? I’m a bold 45 year old…and my life is halfway over! You immediately hit the accelerator again…. the grin on your face slowly returns and at least for that split second you feel like a boy-racer of 18 again.
They recon when you hit the 40+ mark, you start to experience an emotional state of doubt and anxiety, in which you become uncomfortable with the realization that life is halfway over…..Better known as “your midlife crisis”.
I for one, would definitely choose the AUDI TT Clubsport Quattro for taming the horrifying midlife crisis….if I was to experience it today. The new TT Clubsport is definitely a looker with a very low wraparound, tinted windscreen – kinda reminds me of my toy 1950’s Speedster. Normally you’ll find the well known four-ring logo, on the grille of previous TT models, but not on this baby…it has to show-off the aluminium inserts - part of the single-frame grille. The grille also helps the Clubsport to appear even flatter than it already is. Not only do the large air inlets supply additional air to the TFSI engine, it also complements the front end beautifully.
Moving on to the side of the TT Clubsport, you’ll notice it has smaller exterior mirrors and beautiful smooth lines - without anything spoiling the view.
But wait, there’s no door handles?
As babies or kids, we thoroughly enjoyed pressing buttons….. This amusement with pressing buttons on dad’s TV / VCR remote, stayed with us for years and years, until the clever guys at Audi decided that enough is enough - we need more BUTTONS to press!
To all the guys who normally open the car door for the ladies – like me, you’ll want to play with this all day long…by pressing a button on the remote control; the doors spring open. Press it once and you suddenly feel a sensation of….Ooh I wanna press it again….!
If you look at the TT from the rear, the rollover bars are at the same height as the sport bucket seats and kept flatter. The rear bumper and stainless steel oval tailpipe combo, emphasise the sportyness of the car. A dual-branch exhaust system connects the oval tailpipes.
Larger wheel arches not only makes space for the 20-inch wheels, but also boost the muscular appearance. The bright orange brake callipers, link the exterior sports character to the interior - which provides a visual contrast. Occupants will be seated in racing bucket seats, with four-point belts. A couple of interior features are adopted from the R8, such as the gear knob of the gear lever gate, grooved pedals, door opener, steering wheel and door pull are made of generous amounts of aluminium – a well known characteristic of Audi.
The instrument cluster with the combination of colour graphics, omission of odometer and clock, forms part of the beautiful display. You can also listen to your favourite tunes on the B&O MP3 player BeoSound 2, sound system. They uniquely integrated an interface for the MP3 player in one of the top air vents – IZ Nice! Key Specs: - 2.0 TFSI 220 kW turbocharged four-cylinder with direct petrol injection.
- Quattro ensures the power is transferred to al four wheels.
- S-tronic direct-shift gearbox with Dual clutch.
- Six gears can also be changed manually.
- Ceramic ABS brakes fitted for the first time in the TT.
Even if you’re not going through a midlife crisis and have the cash, get your sticky little “boyish” hands on the new TT Clubsport Quattro, fast! They’re considering a limited production run. “”
